PALGA, a portal to more efficient health research

In their quest to understand an help fight disease, researchers use samples an data from pathology labs across the country. Locating, requesting an obtaining these samples on behalf of the research community requires an exentive infrastructure. The solution in the Netherlands began with the establishment of PALGA - the Dutch network an registry of histo- and cytopatholgy - in 1971. The launch of the Dutch National Tissue Archive Portal in 2016 further increased the availability of patholgy tissue for health research. How it all came about and works in practice.
