Clear and concise

Palga is committed to ensuring standardised procedures that allow pathologists to work in a consistent manner. This is especially important for pathologists as their work involves crucial information that affects the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Every patient in the Netherlands should get the best possible diagnosis. That is why Palga is working hard to optimise pathology diagnoses and reporting. An essential aspect of this is the introduction of standardised synoptic reporting in pathology, using national protocols to collect the same data for every patient in every hospital in the Netherlands, and to present it in a clear and concise manner. This allows for smooth multidisciplinary patient consultations.

Recent and historical cell and tissue studies offer crucial insights when it comes to making correct diagnoses. That is why it is important that the data from these studies is structured, stored securely and made available to pathologists, allowing them to contribute decisive information to the treatment team.

Seeing as the quality of our database is highly dependent on the quality of the data that is entered, we also offer a coding course for pathologists.

Reporting to the NKR
Reporting to the NKR

Through the Palga network, incidences of malignancies are reported electronically to the Netherlands Cancer Registry (NKR). This reporting process, which is the result of contracts with the hospitals, provides the data that forms the basis of the NKR.
