Submission for the Palga Prize 2025 now open!
The Palga Prize has been awarded annually since 2012 to research conducted based on Palga data.
Last year, the prize was won by Koen Zwart for his researchpaper: Increased risk of deficient mismatch repair colorectal cancer and its immediate precursor lesions after kidney transplantation.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (sTILs) are prognostic in young patients with node-negative (N0) triple-negative breast cancer who are naïve to systemic therapy.

Who can compete for the Palga Prize?
Anyone conducting or having conducted research that meets the following criteria:
- The research sources used are: data from the national Palga database, PA material requested via Palga, and/or clinical data obtained from the treating physician via Palga. The data are obtained through a request in the Palga request portal and delivered by one of the data request advisors of the Palga Foundation.
- It concerns current, unpublished research or research published in 2022 or 2023, and the abstract has not previously competed for the Palga Prize.
- Only one abstract may be submitted per first author.
How do I participate?
- You submit an English-language abstract (title, authors, background, research question, methodology, results, conclusion of the research) of up to 300 words to aanvraag@palga.nl.
- The abstract consists of text only (figures and tables are not allowed).
- You submit the abstract in PDF format.
What are the additional conditions?
- If you are one of the best three, you are willing to give a presentation after the award ceremony during the Week of Pathology (April 10 and 11, 2025). Exact time and location will follow.
- You agree to the publication of visual material from the award ceremony in Palga and NVVP media and on LinkedIn.

- The Palga Science Committee evaluates the submissions.

Timeline
- January 13, 2025: Deadline for submitting abstracts
- Mid February 2025: Submitters will be notified of the results of the first round
- Mid March 2025: Finalists will be notified if they have won
- April 10-11, 2024: Award ceremony during the Week of Pathology
